Arabic and Persian Text Viewing Incorrectly

Post by pooyanm »

Dear Friends,

I have installed the Arabic and Persian Bible modules on my Ubuntu 10 Linux machine. The previously added modules such as the Greek and Hebrew Biles display perfectly well. However the Arabic and Persian texts, which are unicode, right to left display incorrectly. The letters show up fine, however they are not joined together, each letter appears independently instead of joined together form the words. I have changed the fonts many times, but without any change.

Does any one have any ideas how to fix this?

Thank you for your time and help.

Yours in Christ,
Pooyan

If using XP, you need to enable Arabic support: http://forum.theword.gr/viewtopic.php?p ... ht=chinese
Contextual rendering (needed in Arabic) is supported normally,

Dear All,

We have resolved the problem, which was not linked to TW.

After I spent sometime searching the internet, I realised that this issue of Arabic and Persian display problem is to do with the way Wine works. However the good news is that there is an update on the winehq.com website which resolves the problem to a great extent - version 1.2

Thank you so much.
