Hi Costas & Zhage,
I found some hope for proper display of Chinese with wine in the webpage:
http://forum.ubuntu.org.cn/viewtopic.php?f=121&t=178734
It mentioned that:
1) put fonts in "/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts" (I know how to do this)
2) edit registry in wine (however, I have no idea where should I found the wine registry package by Costas):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontLink\SystemLin
Tohama="SimSun.ttc,SimSun"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontLink\SystemLink]
"Tahoma"=hex(7):53,69,6d,53,75,6e,2e,74,74,63,2c,53,69,6d,53,75,6e,00,00
3) use "env LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8 wine" (I have no idea how to change it)
4) To make fonts smoother (again, I have no idea where is REGEDIT4):
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\X11 Driver]
"ClientSideAntiAliasWithCore"="Y"
"ClientSideAntiAliasWithRender"="Y"
"ClientSideWithRender"="Y"
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
"FontSmoothing"="2"
"FontSmoothingType"=dword:00000002
"FontSmoothingGamma"=dword:00000578
"FontSmoothingOrientation"=dword:00000001
Though I use Traditional Chinese and the setting above is for Simplified Chinese, I think it will work for Traditional Chinese by modifying some.
I would be greatly appreciate if anyone can teach me what files (file paths) exactly I need to edit.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Peace
Eliran
