Re: theWord 4 for MAC
I am no MAC expert, but I will try.
Make sure that theWord is not running.
Open Finder and go to your home folder and navigate to this folder:
In this folder you will find a file with the name config.ini: please delete this file.
Restart theWord and see if it fixes the problem,

Looks good. Thank you!
I quit the program and started it again. I've gotten the Original Welcome page a couple of times and it didn't remember that I had set my language from German to English.
Anything we can do about that?
Thank you,
Anke

well, once you selected your language again, does it now remember it?

No, the program keeps opening in German, but I'd like it to remember that I had chosen English.
Re: theWord 4 for MAC
can you find a file named 'config.ini' in the same path as the one you just deleted above?
This is where theWord should store its settings. Now that you deleted it, it should re-save all settings when you exit, including the language

Re: theWord 4 for MAC
Hi Costas,
It didn't remember the language or my personal layout after I deleted the file and opened TheWord again.
I then used my time machine to restore an older version (so now my icon is no longer invisible). It still doesn't remember my personal preferences (layout, language) - even though I have deleted that config file again.
Thank you,
God bless,
Anke

Re: theWord 4 for MAC
Hm, i am honestly confused.
I am not clear on the answer you gave me, so let me ask you again pls:
I asked you to delete the config.ini file and then I asked you if the config.ini is recreated. If it is, then it means that theWord can write this file. If it can write it, then it is really strange that it will not save its settings

Hey Costas,
I did what you had said. Found the said file. Delete it. Opened TheWord and it was like I had never opened it before.
After I personalized it (English, my own layout), I closed it. When I opened it again, it was like brand new again - although I was able to find my layouts again and set it back to English. But it didn't remember my English choice & layout.
So then I restored the older (February) version, hoping it would now remember my personal setting. Alas... it didn't. But at least I have my logo back (it's no longer invisible in my Mac Dock).
Again, I deleted the file you said to delete. Same result. It doesn't remember my settings.
If there's no answer at this time, I'll just wait for the next update.
Thank you,
Anke

Re: theWord 4 for MAC
may try exit the program by going through File > Exit
simply closing the wine won't save any settings. I'm not sure if it is your case.

Interesting thought.
Re: theWord 4 for MAC
Gentlemen or Ladies (as the case may be), Any chance of Word 4 to Go being downloaded directly into Safari? Providing a Mac user with the blessing that PC users enjoy?

Sorry, I do miss the point here
