I am glad to hear that you are doing this!

I teach pastors, elders, and anyone who desire to learn, how to use theWord to study the scriptures.

Note taking is one of the major untouched areas that many people are missing out on.

I teach people they need to have at least two types of notes.

1. verse by verse
2. topical

I use the same idea that you have presented for the topical notes, I want them to think of it like they are making their own dictionary/Encyclopedia.

I try to get them to see that just like verse by verse notes do not mean it is material that they want to write but that it is information they want to store and have easy quick access to, the same is true of their topical notes, it can just be copies of bits and pieces from articles that make sense to them and really brings home the point to them. Save those things in either type of note file or both!

For example, maybe you are talking to some one about Trinity. You have some great notes that you have taken from lexicons and placed it in John 1:1.
You could also place it in a topic note under Trinity. So if you are talking about John 1:1 with someone you have the info right there, but If you want more information on the subject you may have many more scripture references mentioned under your Topical file for Trinity.

Either way the information can be very useful and accessed in seconds. Another option is to have to say " Well I know I read something about that somewhere, sometime."

A nice thing about having key thoughts listed in your notes is, even if you can't remember where it is at, you can search just your notes and have very meaningful results in seconds. Much more meaningful than the results from searching over 2000 books! You would have too many results about who knows what and it takes to long!

Your brother in Christ,

Jim
Thanks a lot Jim for your kind words, may I suggest something I read it some time ago in one of the David Cox sites, one of the ways to improve the search for specific subjects is adding tags to the comments, i.e. if you are talking about the second coming of the Lord and the rapture in the module you can put a tag like [Pretrib], so, anytime you search about the subject this coment will come out! I'm gonna look for the exact procedure in David' site and I'll put in here.

God bless!
Manuel.
Well, here's the link for an expanded explanation of the tagging system http://www.twmodules.com/news/explanati ... #more-1681

Regards.
Awaiting the return of the Lord (The Glorious rapture of the Church)...
