Scripture Popups

Post by WJSwanepoel »

Currently when the cursor hovers over a scripture reference the Word will pop up the text of either the active translation or the default translation depending on preference set, eg.:
theWord_CurrentPopUp.JPG
theWord_CurrentPopUp.JPG (42.91 KiB) Viewed 3425 times
Would it not be possible have a facility whereby one can select a number of translations which will pop up when the mouse hovers over a Scripture reference? Something like this:
theWord_SuggestedPopUp.JPG
theWord_SuggestedPopUp.JPG (51.37 KiB) Viewed 3425 times
This would allow easy comparison of a number of translations.

Costas: How would this be handled when more than a single verse (a wide range of verses, i.e., Isa 7:1-25) were to be shown in various Bible translations? Would each verse be interlaced with the corresponding verse in the other translation, or would each range be presented as a whole for each?

The second option for sure. Isn't that what you would expect?

That's how I would guess you would do, but my interpretation of the wish expressed on Willem Swanepoel's post is that he would expect the first option, considering what he wrote at the bottom:

"This would allow easy comparison of a number of translations."

I suppose that if he would like to easily compare multiple translations, he would expect to do it by seeing each verse alternatively placed one beside or below the other; otherwise it would be difficult to see how each translation would compare to each other when taking a look at a long range of verses.

I am quite happy with Costas' suggested method. Generally Scripture references do not refer to very large portions of Scripture and in those cases it will not matter. For the occasional large piece of text one can always switch to the Bible Windows and use the 'Compare' option to view the passage.

Hi Costas,
Can you give me an idea of where this request is on your list of priorities? Is is near the top or something I should not hold my breath for  .
