Startup window with news

Post by jonathangkoehn »

It would be helpful to have a window like the help tip window that shared the latest news.
For example:
Latest books available through the "Add Titles" feature.
Latest beta update information (If one so chooses).

I regularly visit theWORD website but not as often the new module website.
It would be nice to have all this information in one location when I start up theWORD.
It would be nice also to be able to disable it like the help tip window.

Would this not require a "call home" feature at start up?

It would be nice if a feature such as this could be enable or disabled per desire. So if disabled no internet would be required I would assume.

I agree. An option to initiate the news window manually if you chose not to have it do so at each start up might be handy too. Maybe another option would be to set the frequency if you chose to have it check automatically (such as daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, decadely, millennially, etc.).

I do get the newsletter which has been nice.
Sometimes though other websites that are under AddTitles have new books that aren't in the newsletter.
Also in regards to the latest beta one has to check back to from time to time.
By the way nothing against the newsletter and twitter. I enjoy the newsletter. I personally am not on twitter that much. I was just hoping to have the news easier to access.
Sincerely,
Jonathan

One problem I have is that I'm not sure I get all the newsletters, I think my mail service filters some bulk mail even though I try to whitelist it. The last one I have is the "theWordBooks July 2017 Sales!". Is that the last one?

I don't have a Twitter and never think to look at it. I'll try to remember.
