Hello faithman,
Maps are simply a part of Book modules. Maps/images can be embedded in any Book module. Now, I remember a module of maps that I downloaded a while back, but I haven't really used it and I can't seem to find it. Maybe someone else knows where it is. I am sure they will pipe in . See this post.
