Thank you Nikolay for the proposals, some of them have some interesting touches!
I would still go with the first one.
An important thing about the layout of the splash is that at runtime it will also host more objects (text, progress bar, etc) so there are some rules on which parts of it should be empty, etc

I like number one, but agree that the colour of the letters for "Word" need more contrast with the background. I imagine this splash screen will also reflect the same design as the webpage images, etc. For initial impact, I would want to see "theWord" in clear contrast to the background. I agree with using a burnished bronze or even liquid gold colour for "Word".

The latest build does have a more vivid color for the logo

The first two are being voted on only.

But it looks like Costas has settled on the first one (but slightly tweaked the contrast of the letters as you can see from the .1334 beta).
