Is there a Strong's Greek dictionary for the LXX?

Post by LeeJames »

I love the Apostolic Bible Polyglot because it assigns Strong's numbers to every word of the Greek Old Testament, including those not found in the New Testament.

The only problem is: you can't click on the new Strong's numbers to bring up a dictionary definition.

Does anyone know of a dictionary module (with Strong's) for the LXX?

We can create one. Most of the Greek words not found in Strongs can be found in the Liddell-Scott-Jones dictionary module but you need to turn on your Bible view word lookup feature and simply hover your mouse where you need it. You can also use this dictionary to check for misapplied Strong's Tags in the ABP.

You can also try these online resources:
1. http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/mor ... w0#lexicon.
2. www.archive.org Septuagint Lexicons Books.

Here's a dictionary I created using the Perseus data you've pointed out: https://www.dropbox.com/s/immtwyrldixck ... twzip?dl=0. Keep in mind this is quite big, because it covers all classical Greek vocabulary.

And there's Jonathan's analytical dictionaries - http://forum.theword.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7937, more suited for biblical Greek.

Old post, but I think what was wanting is an extended Strongs that covers numbers like G1510.6, G805.3, G1510.8.3. I don't think the other dictionaries cover those numbers. I have built one that covers all the ABP numbers, but I don't know if it is legal so don't think I can share it. But it is "doable" and it does work.

Darrel, if ABP gives permission for you to share it that would be the best way to go first.

Hi Jonathan, I seem to recall they were not releasing permission because they were coming out with a new release, so I did not want to infringe on a potential copyright. I did want to let people know there is a remedy and it does work very nice within TW!
