NIC Series Feedback

Post by why1942 »

I discovered the NIC Series today and was floored by the sticker price on it.

Is this commentary series really worth over $1000? When compared to commentaries like Cambridge Bible Commentary, Jamieson-Fausset-Brown, and Pulpit or Poole (which are all free), how does the NIC Series stack up? I've read reviews online that go either way.

That's exactly it. Either it's worth it to you or it isn't, and I don't think you'll find more definitive answers here.

Some of these other commentaries are free because they are in the public domain which is nice. However if you went into a book store where you could buy an entire multi-volume commentary set you would pay quite a price for it depending on the commentary set.
For example:

http://www.christianbook.com/niv-applic ... t=Academic
http://www.christianbook.com/the-pillar ... t=Academic
http://www.christianbook.com/tyndale-te ... t=Academic
http://www.christianbook.com/page/acade ... -sets?pg=3

Plus the ones in theWORD are easier to access. Also the cost can be due to the copyright holder charging a fee per book or royalties, etc.

The set costs $1,829.99. Don't know about the value.
