Original Lang. courses on TheWord

Post by cornopean »

So I am busy converting my language courses to a module for TheWord. I have the first four lessons complete, and I invite critique. Is this useful to anyone? should I continue? any suggestions as to how this could be improved? If you have suggestions, it would be best for me to start working on them now rather than being all finished and having to go back and redo. We're making much better progress than I ever imagined. My assistant is really going to town on this. 8)

You can download it here: http://bit.ly/2k4tvRH from S3. I look forward to hearing from you.

I like what you have done! I am in process of learning a bit more on Greek and Hebrew. I have Mounce's book Greek for the Rest of Us coming in soon. On the Hebrew side I am working with a lot of Jeff Benner's material, both on Paleo Hebrew and Biblical Hebrew. So yes, Please do continue! I, for one, will use your material!

I find it to be interesting. I believe a purpose statement may be helpful. I like how you've used links to explain various concepts.
Is the goal of this course to learn Greek/Hebrew at a reading level?
Is it to study the Greek/Hebrew for preaching/teaching?

Sorry if you've already explained this just wondering.

The course is just a typical introductory course on Greek grammar and syntax. The method is much more immersive and inductive than anything I've seen. The Hebrew course leans hard on the grammar of Kittel, Hoffer, Wright. The Greek leans lightly on Mounce's text and the Wallace text. All the lesson pages are already on online for the intro course I teach: https://courses.prts.edu/greek-i/

I am now in the process of uploading all my assignments.

My goal is that someone who completes this course would be able to read Greek or Hebrew in parallel with an English translation. Reading the Greek/Hebrew but jumping to the English to handle the tough spots.

I'd like to get it finished by the end of the Summer. I think that's doable.
It would actually end up being Greek I and II as well as Hebrew I and II. Possibly my English course as well.

So we are making very rapid progress on this module. We have most of the pages built. Now we are going thru and editing up each page to make it as well organized as we can. If you have suggestions, please do send them. The link to download the module is here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/GoodArticles/O ... +Study.twm

I've updated this module now. I have gone through every single page and improved/updated/corrected the content. I hope you enjoy version 2. http://www.wordmodules.com/the-word-mod ... -language/

Interesting, so a lot of grammar stuff in the courses? Like Prefixes, Infixes and Suffixes?
Is there one course for Hebrew and one for Greek or how does that work out?

There is a Hebrew course and a Greek course. Both courses assume the student is starting from the perspective of the English language. I always teach the concepts in English grammar first, then move to the Greek and Hebrew grammars. The online version of the course is here: https://engelsma.moodlecloud.com/ but you can do most of the course just right inside TheWord.
