Can't insert character using hotkey app

I use an app similar to autohotkey to enter text clips & special characters into my notes. I've been doing this for years, but it stopped working in theWord about a week ago. (When I use a key combination to insert text, there's a brief pause then nothing happens, no error message or indication of a problem) The same function works in other programs on this PC. It also runs in theWord on another PC with the same OS/configuration.

I'm running Windows 10 x64. It isn't a conflict with Windows shortcuts since it works in other programs and another PC. I've tried changing clipboard options to no avail. I haven't done anything to change the theWord configuration that I'm aware of. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I would try to recall any new software or updates added recently, maybe roll-back to an earlier state if you have system protection on.
