Linking Audio MP3 files to verses in the KJV bible theWord

Post by deeBibletheWord7 »

To All those who might be interested in helping:

I am currently trying to find a way to link audio MP3 files to the
verses of the King James Bible in theWord whether it be by chapter
or verse by verse.

I would like to create an audio module if you will that will automatically
synchronize with the scripture being displayed currently and have a
feature that can be turned on or off where if the user wants, the audio
will play automatically upon referencing a specific scripture. If not, they
can turn this feature off and just reference the scripture normally.

I know this is a complex request and probably not possible however, I am just
getting to know this software and maybe someone out there might have some
sort of clue on how to go about doing this.

If not, hoping that theWord engineers include something like this in a
future update.

Thanks to all in advance for the help.

Sincerely,
Dwight

Dear Jonathan:

I have used the link that you provided and with much effort I was able to
get somewhere with my request. The following is what I did.

I do have the entire bible in MP3 format by book, Genesis, Exodus, etc.

What I first did was created a main folder by book for example: Genesis.

I then created a sub folders underneath that for all of the chapters which in
this case is a total of 50. So the folder structure so far is:

GENESIS
CHAPTER 1
CHAPTER 2
CHAPTER 3
CHAPTER 4

....and so on.

Underneath each chapter folder I have created a sub folder for each verse
for example:

GENESIS
CHAPTER 1
verse 1
verse 2
verse 3
verse 4

....and so on.

I would then load the GENESIS mp3 file (which in this case is the entire book) in
Audacity. I then would zoom in about 2 or 3 times to separate the wave form
enough for editing and then would select each verse and export to MP3 to its
folder accordingly so that each verse is its own MP3 file.

I then would highlight the whole chapter and then export the whole chapter as
well and save as MP3 to its folder location and so on.

In theWord, I then created another My Verse Module (which has the links for you
to use to synchronize comments and notes to a particular scripture). I would then
rename this module to something like "Alexander Scourby" and then I would go to
the Chapter and verse for instance: Genesis 1:1, click on the link to add comments
within the "My Verse Module/Alexander Scourby Module" and on the blank page I
would press CTRL-K that brings up the link dialog box which I use to create a direct
link to the MP3 file.

One has to select (radio button) "manually enter the target of the link" in section 1.
In section 2 you have no choice but to leave this alone. And in section 3 you write
the title of the page in the TEXT box and then the direct path to the MP3 file in the
target box.

My example can be seen in the attached image.

This is the final part of my mega post here on audio files but
thanks to Jonathan, I was able to get somewhere with this.

All in all, it entails a lot of work in cutting up MP3 files for each
verse for the whole bible but I feel it is worth the go if I take my
time and go about it on a daily basis so as not to overwhelm myself.

It can be done and in the end, one can just click on the user module
created and go to whatever book, chapter and verse in the bible
and click on the link to here the spoken verse.

sounds like a lot of work, but something that would certainly be a nice addition to theWord. I had a thought about how to make the audio links more flexible...you could make the module a cross reference module, with the hotlink for the audio being an asterisk or some other symbol, that would directly play the audio file (I'm pretty sure this is possible, but it's been a while since I did anything with cross reference files). Anyway, if you could get it to work, you would be able to turn the audio (cross-reference) links on and off easily, and the link would be conveniently located at the end of each verse...you could even have two links at the end of the first verse of every chapter...one for that verse and one for the entire chapter.

Anyway...it's just an idea...

Keyuhui:

Wow!

Great idea. I will certainly try the cross-reference method as well.

I never thought of that. Makes sense to have the link right there next to the verse as
a cross-reference where you can turn it on and off.

Currently working on how to play the audio if a range of verses is specified instead
of the conventional one verse lookup.

For example: Matt 3:4-7

Be able to play the audio for that range of verses only.

I noticed that the 'F4' feature in theWord does not take a range of verses or am
I missing something?

Maybe you can help me out with that.

I appreciate and thank you for the cross-reference suggestion you provided.

God bless!

Dwight
