Odd Behaviour Running theWord on Two Screens

Post by petrosd »

I have theWord on my Surface Pro. I have a 28" monitor attached. This gives me two screens, the Surface Pro screen (2160x1440), and the 28" monitor screen (1920x1080).

The thing is, when I drag theWord to the 1920x1080 screen, it displays more than on the 2160x1440 screen. I actually thought it was my imagination so I made two screen captures (attached) and sure enough, the screen with less pixels has more info. Does anyone know why?

No as far as I know. I checked the display settings and they are default/recommended.

I would set both screens to 100% to see for sure. My recommended for example is 125% which would change the screen.

What exactly are you referring to? I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro. Please walk me through the steps to get to the place you're referencing. Thanks.

These are the steps in Windows 10 not sure if they are similar in Windows 8.1

1. Right Click destop -> select Display Settings
2. Scroll down to Scale and Layout
3. Make sure it is set to 100% or similar settings on both screens.

The instructions don't work for Windows 8.1, but I was able to figure it out. I think it may be as you suggest. The recommended for the Surface Pro screen is 125%, but it was set to 150%. After I set it to 100% I could see why (I can't read the screen). I must have changed it a long time ago and forgot. Anyway, I left things as they were originally, and tend to use th ebig screen for study - more info and more readable.
