Search will not find this: Man shall not
Search will find this: Man shall not live
Search will not find: 'Man shall not live by bread alone

not is a boolean operator so you need to escape it if you want to find the word "not"

man shall \not

My error; I enclosed it in quotes and everything worked. Bet I remember this one...

Hey, wait a minute, look at the searches again:

Search will not find this: Man shall not
Search will find this: Man shall not live
Search will not find: Man shall not live by bread alone

So you wonder why there is a match in Gen 2:23
the "Is this what you are looking for?" box indicates this, so it is correct to have a match.
Man AND (shall AND (NOT live))
