Curious interaction between the Word and OpenOffice

 Curious interaction between the Word and OpenOffice If I have theWord running (4.0.0.1342), which is almost always, and open up a spreadsheet or an OpenOffice Writer document, sometimes OpenOffice locks up and so does theWord. I open Windows 7 "Resource Monitor" or "Task Manager" and it show both programs as "not responding". I am able to exit theWord and then OpenOffice becomes responsive again and acts like nothing happened. I'm glad it is not anything more serious than that, but it would be very interesting to find out why it does that!
