Malaware detected on download and/or install

Avast detects malware on download and download cannot be completed unless anti-virus is shut off. Attempts to install after anti-virus is turned off and turned back on causes deletion of what is being reported as Win32:Malware-gen

That's strange, I use Avast and have not gotten this message.

You should contact Avast and inform them of this false positive.

You could just add the program to the exclusion list (or is it allowed list?).
