Bible Tree Font on Surface Pro 4

Post by lmod »

This post refers to an issues with the Bible Tree font on my Surface Pro 4 when I try to run version 5.0.01465 theword exe. The Bible Tree font is fine in version 5.0.0.1450, but if I replace the file, "theword.exe" with the corresponding file from version 5.0.0.1465 (after renaming it to "theword.exe" the bibletree font changes to something larger. (I cannot see the whole character, therefore cannot be sure what the font is.) The vertical line space is reduced to the point where the characters are grossly truncated. A larger font face, with much less vertical separation than is the case with version 5.0.0.1450. I only use the main bible view Window, and the font remains the same in that window after changing the exe.

I also have TheWord installed on my desktop computer, and that is running version 5.0.0.1465 without any issue. That machine uses an NVidia GTX 750 Ti video card, as well as the on-board Intel HD Graphics 4600 adapter. I have 3 monitors on this system, one is driven by the on-board graphics and the others by the NVidia card. TheWord 5.0.0.1465 has no issues whichever monitor I view it on.

Apparently an incompatibility with the graphics driver on the Surface Pro 4. My Surface Pro 4 is the 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM version, with Intel HD Graphics 520.
The driver version is 20.19.15.4364, which is up-to-date according to Device Manager's "Update Driver" function.

Not a big deal, but perhaps something that should be addressed for compatibility before another 'official' version is issued.

Firstly let me apologise for not replying sooner. Unfortunately, gmail thought the automated advice that a reply had been posted to this topic was spam, and I hadn't looked in the gmail spam folder for some time.
The attached screen shot "TheWord.png" was taken with the Surface Pro 4 display set at 200% (the recommended magnification.) If I set the display at 175% the names are shown in a smaller font, and are readable. I have attempted to attach a 2nd screenshot named "TheWord175.png" taken at that magnification but it is not showing here as being attached.

Here is the screenshot taken at 175% magnification. Snipping Tool didn't save it correctly.

I was using version 5.0.0.1465. Those previous screen shots were taken while that version was installed on my Surface Pro 4.
I have since reverted to version 5.0.0.1460 on that device. That version 1460 does not have an issue with the tree font sizing. The attached clip "TheWord1460" was taken with display magnification set at 200%. The Tree font resizes without issue when the display magnification is changed as can be seen in the clip "TheWord1460175%.png"
It would appear that the issue is related to some change between versions 1460 & 1465.

Please try out build 1466, the fix should be fixed (this is a regression from 1460, where proper high-dpi support for windows 10 was added)

Thank you.
The tree font now scales happily in build 1466. I tried 150%, 175%, 200%, 225%, 300%. Rendered correctly in all those resolutions. I use 175% normally.
