Why is it that we can no longer drag and select text in the xref popup? Only the entire text, a single word or an entire line can be selected and this seems to have started with 4171.
Also noticed that to add an xref you must right click on the text rather than just inside the verse selector as it was before.

Re: Cannot select text in xref popup
Yes I can select a single character.
If it is mid-word I can get it with rtl ltr drag.
If it is start of word I drag rtl. and end of word I drag ltr.
If it is mid-word I can get it with rtl ltr drag.
If it is start of word I drag rtl. and end of word I drag ltr.

Re: Cannot select text in xref popup
I just did some playing around and this is crazy. The image has two different colors of text - white and brown.
I cannot select any white text by dragging.
If I drag rtl in the brown text I can select anything.
If I continue to drag from rtl into the white text all of the white is selected immediately.
If I drag ltr in the brown text it uses word selection instead of character.
I can select an entire row by clicking at the beginning of a row.
I can select all the text by dragging top to bottom or bottom to top.

Re: Cannot select text in xref popup
Thanks for explaining and reporting this, I had not noticed a problem.
@Costas, there is some strange issue here in the popup window to do with selection of text. It appears that text on the first line before wrapping cannot have single words/letters selected, only the whole line. However on the second and subsequent wrap lines it works ok.
It appears to work ok if the popup is showing multiple verses also.

Re: Cannot select text in xref popup
Maybe that is another issue to add.
Can you possibly try with default colours and background to see if it makes a difference

Re: Cannot select text in xref popup
Just did a complete new install of theWord which contains 1450.
The only way to select text is:
Double click on a word on first or second line.
Drag from top to bottom or bottom to top.
Click to the left of a line and select the entire line.
In 1461:
Double click on a word on first or second line.
The wrapped line allows character selection rtl.
First line is completely selected.
First line does not have does not have any rtl or ltr selection.
1472 identical to 1461
It appears that the Windows way of selecting text has been overridden in the popup because it works as it should if making selection in a Bible View.

Re: Cannot select text in xref popup
Thanks for the confirmation.
Will have to leave it to Costas to investigate the cause.

Re: Cannot select text in xref popup
It seems that this bug goes back to version 3.
I spent a good amount of time trying to solve but I couldn't.
It is related to the Bible text, e.g. the KJV and TRa behave much better than other Bibles. I was not able to find the pattern (e.g. utf8 texts? fonts related? not sure). Even the KJV (which is ansis and English), does have issue selecting the first word of the first line.
Anyway, after spending enough time and not being able to figure it out, i decide to put it aside. Please try to work around it by either double clicking on a word to select, or starting from the second line, etc,
Sorry
Costas
