Hi,

I just installed llxa onto the usb drive.
After this TW will not start.

I get the blue startup screen; initialising and them is just closed.
Task manager does not show it as running.

I have reinstalled (just the app, not files) and it is the same.

PLease can you suggest what to do?

remove lxxa and see if it starts. Was the lxxa via the Add titles? If not, then perhaps it was corrupted in the transfer. Size I have is 5.37 MB (5,640,145 bytes)

thanks for the suggestion; I did that, no go.

I have done the following with interesting results.

1. Loaded portable installation on another usb stick.
2. Copied the top directory files (language files and word.exe) to the old usb.
3. Ran from there.
4. It seemed to work but sometimes not.
5. I think I have seen that if I just close TW it will not load again, but if I Exit from the file menu it starts again fine.

6. Is this an issue writing to the USB?
6. the LXXa module worked when I installed from the main menu.

to half answer my own question:

When I close via File exit. 3 files are updated:

config
locked.bibles.list
locked.module.lust
module.list
compact

Is the File EXit issue the problem?
I've not noticed it before, and think I normally exited by just closing the window.

A final question on this.

is there a way to fix the problem if I forget to use File Exit and just close the window?

I don;t want to have to copy all the installation files again, and have it re-index.

Not sure what is happening. Just looking to try to repeat the issue with a usb drive install.
What version of theWord are you using.
Also skins can be an issue.

Also you might need to turn on error reporting.
Check in the cache folder for an error.log it could have the error logged in it.

You might also try to rename your config.ini to config.ini_old and start theWord so that it makes a new one. See if you still have the problem. Then at least we will know it is something in the config.ini
