we're in 2009! If we look back to 2008 we love to remember major events that
took place, highs and lows. Costas and I and those who are working
faithfully on TW are excited to give you a little update of what we did in
2008!
2008 - A year with many successes and some rock hard challenges.
We just would like to mention one challenge. A few months ago we had to move
the website to another server, since the webhoster shut down. This for
example disturbed our plans and work. It was good to know that in such
critical cases we have not only a Plan B but also a Plan C. - C stands for
Christ, who made Christians willing to help us, if Plan B would have failed.
This year Costas did more than 50 builds and three public releases! That was
an incredible amount of work, but we're finally there: We are thankful that
we were able to publish the Release Candidate (RC) before the end of 2008.
You can regard this version as final. Even though we are still testing
(therefore RC), The Word is already more stable than Windows Vista will be
next year - ok, we exagerate a bit here
- Actually there need to be donesome minor things like updating the language files for translators.
Beyond that, we had some successful discussions with publishers and now have
access to very valuable content for free. Getting these kinds of agreements
is not always easy. We are therefore thankful to be able to provide
excellent modules of rare books, series and periodicals. Many modules are
being worked at this moment and some will be available with the imminent
release of the new version 3.
Compared to last year, the download-rate has increased significantly! We are
very thankful, that The Word Bible software has been accepted by the users
despite the present 'beta' state of the software.... and the not-that-funcy
website.
The new website has also progressed a lot! We're planning to launch TW3 (The
Word, ver. 3) and the website at the same time. I'm confident, that it will
be in the first quarter of 2009.
I'll keep you up to date with the next steps which will be the final. Till
then, the Lord's blessings and all the best for this year 2009, that we may
all grow spiritually to HIS glorification. (John 3:30)
