File Struture to Import Commentary

Post by kjboland »

All,

this is a basic question, but I can't find any reference to an answer.

I am trying to build a commentary from a public domain source; using TW itself is fine, but a little cumbersome with copy paste, select verse etc.

I have found the Import utility and downloaded it: Please can you help me with the file structure I need to import it into TW to become a valid commentary.

Thanks in advance.

Each topic should be a separate RTF file with the name of the verse, e.g. John 2.14.rtf

1. Is there a step by step tutorial on using the Disk tab on theword importer?

2. So you need an rtf file for each verse named book\chapter\verse.rtf?

3. How do you export a commentary back to rtf?

4. How do you do a find/replace on an entire commentary?

Thanks,

1: no
2: the exact name should contains the book\chapter\verse, e.g. John_1_2.rtf. There is a regular expression in the tab that is used to parse this.
3. You don't
4. This is up to you: there is a utility method in the importer that does a regex find/replace in the rtf code of each topic: you need to be careful

I think I found a way to export commentary notes out of the software, possibly to rtf or pdf or word (albeit, one chapter at a time).

1. Create your notes in commentary module.
2. Install the blank Ot-nt-lines module from the website (so the bible verses are blank in the bible view).
3. Turn on Inline Commentary in the bible view.
4. Highlight entire contents of bible window (should just be your commentary notes displayed) and copy to external program (word, rtf, etc).

It only works one chapter at a time, but this is better than one verse at a time. I have found it preserves the formatting perfectly (Greek, etc), at least into Scrivener.
