Linking From Commentary Entries To Target locations in Books

Apologies if this has been discussed before, but if it has been I cannot find it. Please point me to the appropriate topic if one is already there.

I have a commentary together with some books. All are public domain and all are in text format. Sections in the books shed extra light on thoughts presented in the verse commentaries.

I would love to be able to embed the Ctrl-K (was it?) equivalent links into individual text-based verse comments, pointing to nominated sections in the various text-based books. Potentially, the one verse comment could have multiple Crtl-K links. Clicking on a link would display the relevant book section in the dictionary area (or as an accessible popup window). The ability to scroll forwards and backwards through the book from that point would be advantageous. I plan to place the links (the triggering commentary links and the target book links) into the text documents before importing them somehow (that's another topic I will need to look at).

Basically I'm asking about the text format of user-based commentaries and of user-based books, and the text file mechanism that can be used to link them together.

Thanks in anticipation

I have just spent well over an hour typing a clearly defined message with multiple points, using Barnes' comment on John 3:1 as a base for examples.

During the process I was asked to log in 3 times.

The first 2 times it returned me to the page I had typed. The third time it wiped the page out. Totally.

Could there be an automatically saved version of my work somewhere?
