I've noticed in the computing press that the next major version of Windows will drop support for 32 bit applications. This release is not likely to arrive until 2020 and the current Windows 10 will most likely be supported for a long time, so there is no short term risk to running theWord.
As theWord is currently a 32 bit application, are there any plans to build a 64 bit version? Is this possible in the current development environment? Is it something that theWord user community could help with?
Thanks,
Chris

Looks like much of the info is uncertain and there should be years before support of 32bit is dropped. There's also a suggestion that Microsoft could build support for 32bit apps as a module for the new version of windows. A quote from the third article "There is also a widespread belief among the Internet community that Windows Core OS will support Win32 apps as well."
I think it would be good to look at the options for theWord if 32 bit support is dropped. Can it simply be compiled for 64 bit or is it more complicated?
My interest in this is as a daily user of theWord with many premium modules. Currently I cannot find another Bible software package that can match the flexibility of theWord and I'm keen to ensure I can continue to run it for the forseeable future.
Thanks,
Chris
