Can this new commentary be added to the TheWord catalogue?

Post by johan974 »

Hi,

For an well known commentary author I have converted/created a TheWord commentary module.
It is a commentary of the whole Bible. It took the author 30 years to create this nice commentary.

The Dutch version is available via:
http://www.wordmodules.com/the-word-mod ... mments-nl/

The English version has only 3 Bible books left to be translated, finishing after summer. I will post the current commentary within a few weeks. The German version is about 60% translated.

How can I get this Dutch commentary into the standard Catalogue of TheWord?

Information you can find via:
https://www.kingcomments.com/en

Kind regards,
johan

Greetings Johan974,
We appreciate your interest in having this resource in theWord. However, there are some important items for content to become official:
1. Copyright content (we need to be contacted by the author/publisher of the content and have their permission.) If we don't have this we can not proceed.
2. If public domain is it good data and in a format we can use. (In other words can we build a high quality resource from this data.) If bad data or wrong format it can be too time consuming.
3. Does it meet other guidelines material wise. (These are up to our discretion.) For example we are not seeking to build a repository of random books on math. We are working on books connected to the study of the Bible.
4. Official formatting standards. (The data needs brought up to a certain formatting style, which can be found in the forums and must be confirmed by us. This is only after steps 1-3 are dealt with.) It can be a time consuming effort but before the resource can become official it is necessary.
5. After all steps 1-4 have been met then up to our discretion we may add the resource to theWord official repository.

This is important otherwise the high-quality & copyright permission or public domain content that we aim for could be damaged in the official repository.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Koehn @ theWordBooks & theWord

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
1. Copyright content (we need to be contacted by the author/publisher of the content and have their permission.) If we don't have this we can not proceed.
> How can the author (and copyright holder) contact you? Can he send an e-mail to you?
> You can contact him via [email protected].

2. If public domain is it good data and in a format we can use. (In other words can we build a high quality resource from this data.) If bad data or wrong format it can be too time consuming.
> I already formatted it for the author in TheWord format.

3. Does it meet other guidelines material wise. (These are up to our discretion.) For example we are not seeking to build a repository of random books on math. We are working on books connected to the study of the Bible.
> Yes, it is a Bible commentary on the Whole Bible. You can find information via https://www.kingcomments.com/en.

4. Official formatting standards. (The data needs brought up to a certain formatting style, which can be found in the forums and must be confirmed by us. This is only after steps 1-3 are dealt with.) It can be a time consuming effort but before the resource can become official it is necessary.
> I already formatted it for you in TheWord format, see the link on theword modules com.
> Maybe you could compress the RTF.

> Is this sufficient? Or do you want me to take further steps?

Kind regards, Johan

Greetings Johan974,
1. If you can email the author with a CC to jgk at thewordbooks.com explaining that you are requesting permission to use this resource in theWord Bible Software. (We can work on details.)
2. This is helpful that it is already in theWord format
3. Agreed Commentary is good we will still need to review it per our discretion
4. Official formatting standards refers to this: https://www.theword.net/docs/tw-module- ... elines.pdf It will need to be to this standard especially see pages 4 through the end.
5. We will need to review it after this all and per our discretion it may go into the official repository.

Appreciate you working on this resource it does look interesting.
Sincerely,

Hi,
OK, you will get an email from the author.
Just review the commentary in TheWord (http://www.wordmodules.com/the-word-mod ... mments-nl/).
If you have any further suggestions let me know.
The font was taken from another example, so must be ok.
Kind regards,
Johan
