Re: Cremer - Biblico-Theological Lexicon of New Testament Gr
Hi Jonathan,
Here is the link from Archive.org. Inclusion in Archive.org is generally a pretty safe indicator that the publication is in the Public Domain, or that copyright has been waived.
https://archive.org/details/biblicotheologic00cremuoftThis work is considered to be the predecessor to Kittel's TDNT.
A Good introductory article can be found here:
https://upper-register.typepad.com/blog ... rnack.htmlTwo excerpts from that article might indicate the work's usefulness in theWord:
"...The basic thrust of Cremer's lexical work was his presupposition that the theologically significant vocabulary of the Greek New Testament must not be interpreted solely or primarily with reference to extra-biblical Greek usage but primarily in the Hebraic context and worldview of the Old Testament."
"As much as I admire, love, and use the indispensible BDAG (it is, unquestionably, the best lexicon of New Testament Greek available), I believe this may be its biggest flaw. That is, it relies too much on extra-biblical Koine as the standard of meaning and downplays the role of the Septuagint in mediating the overtones, allusions, and connotations of the Hebrew biblical revelation."
Hope this helps Jonathan - For context - I preach "exegetically", my belief is that the preacher's primary task is to ensure that his people are introduced to the whole of Scripture, and theWord is my sole Bible Study application. I believe in it. And I greatly respect your work.
