I have noticed there are sometimes duplicate Strong's Numbers back to back in verses. In the OT, this seems to be done for emphasis and both words are seen in the Hebrew. However, in the Greek this does not seem to be the case. Here is a sample from Acts.

Act 5:12 wrought[G1096][G1096]
Act 8:13 which were done[G1096][G1096].
Act 11:11 where[G1722][G3739][G3739]
Act 19:33 forward[G4261][G4261].
Act 21:8 and came[G2064][G2064
Act 22:25 they bound[G4385][G4385]
Act 24:19 ought[G1163][G1163]
Act 26:20 shewed[G518][G518]
Act 27:29 we should have fallen[G1601][G1601]

Any ideas why this might be?

I was just chatting with Costas about this, and it appears that the data was from TSP The Sword Project, a collaboration of contributors. Each person has used and adjusted the data to suit their needs. But it appears many but not all the twin Strong's numbers have no relevance to theWord's KJV and AKJV/PCE modules so I am going to hide one of the pair by putting an X before the WG part of the code to make it invalid and it will be ignored, giving us the option to easily revert in the future if necessary.

Hi Jon,

FYI - I sent this request to four different producers of bible programs that have this. I received a response from one developer this morning who said that he had noticed this and checked it out and they were legitimate. Unfortunately, he is in the middle of remodeling his office and cannot get to his files to provide the specifics. One thing I am sure of - I don't know the answer :D

I have edited the KJV and AKJV/PCE Bibles so that they don't display any meaningless double Strong's numbers.
Ones retained are at Mark 6:39-40, G4849, and G4237, and Heb 9:3, 10:37, G39, and G3745 because they are in the Greek text.

Would it be safe to assume you checked all the other duplicates against the Greek and found them to note be supported there?

Yes, I checked each one.

One other question. Which Greek text did you check these against?

I went through these nine verses and I found out why eight of them have duplicate numbers. In the TR module, with Scrivener's variants on, you will see that there is a difference in these words between Stephen's text and Scrivener's text. (Scrivener's variants are also available in the TRa.) I'm guessing that Strong numbers were copied over from the Greek text(s) to the KJV, and that the numbers for the Scrivener variants were copied over as well, resulting in the duplicate numbers.

Acts 5:12 - difference in tense
Acts 8:13 - difference in gender
Acts 19:33 - difference in tense
Acts 21:8 - difference in person
Acts 22:25 - difference in number
Acts 24:19 - difference in tense
Acts 26:20 - difference in tense + mood
Acts 27:29 - difference in person

Acts 11:11 was a bona fide duplicate.
