If you think its related to the compare view, then take notice which modules you put in the compare view that cause the problem.

I did some tests and tried some modules. I am able to reproduce the problem whenever I include the kjv.ont module in the compare view. Thanks for the tip!

I have sent Costas some info on how to make it fail.
Not sure when he will have time to look at it.
One way to stop it failing is to not close theWord with the compare view active.

It still happening after removing the kjv.ont module, so I think its not the modules fault.
I will try not to close with the compare view and see what happens.

I reported some compare view apparent glitch a long time ago (2006 - old forum) and Costas helped me out by instructing me to edit a couple of lines in config.ini file. I followed his recommendation and the problem with the compare view was fixed.

The other oddity I noticed was that if I close down with the compare view active, but I was at Revelation and not Genesis, then it would start ok.
My test setup was as follows
The Bibles I had installed were from the English free modules from A Voice in the Wilderness through to and including English Standard Version (ESV). So 20 Bibles plus the KJV.
Open a compare view, and select all the 21 resources to show in horizontal and vertical layout. Set it to the horizontal layout. Close theWord and wait for info to get to the config.ini and try to restart theWord. It should fail.
(This was when I was at Gen 1:1)
Tried the same but navigated to Revelation, and it would start ok.
