Reader's background image and verse highlight

Is the reader's background image supposed to override the current verse highlight?

Try this then:
1. Create a image 225, 225, 225 and insert it.
2. Set the highlight to 239, 239, 239.
EDIT: Set the background to 225, 225, 225.
3. Remove the image.

I just made some adjustments on the highlight color and it appears that transparency is involved causing the background image be become predominant at some settings.

By design, the transparency of the image is taken into account!
This allows you to use semi-transparent images and combine with back-colors to achieve interesting effects,

I recently noticed that the popup for the xrefs is lighter than that for Strong's even though they are using the same color. It is a little confusing since both cannot be open at the same time.

It also seems that the gradient for the popup switches ends when "shift" is held and the cursor moved over top of it.

Yep, I have been exploring this a lot.

When you hold the SHIFT and you move the mouse over the popup, the color changes to indicate it gets active, yes

These are 2 different things now:
- the popup for xrefs use the colors of the Active Bible view
- the popup for Strongs use the colors of the Active Book view

But still the color of the popup is darker than the view from which it came, and goes even darker when pinned. Why is this?

JG, have you taken a look at 1360? I use a background image, as you know, and with the background color I can control the color of the popup now. Bible View controls xrefs and Book View controls Strong's. If you have 2 BV open with 2 different colors, Strong's will use the last one you clicked on.

Exactly. I see no problem, unless I miss something.
When the popup becomes active (e.g. SHIFT+Mouse over), the backcolor gets a bit darker to indicate that.

Well my thinking is that when a color has been set by the user as the one that is best for them, especially if it is just a hint of color, why do they then have a popup which is much darker.

I would think that you know when the popup is active by the fact that the mouse is inside it.? No color change needed?

Just observations from my point of view.
