TotheWord Importer (Dct, Gbk, Dev, Cmt, Map, Bibles) for theWord

Post by jonathangkoehn »

Greetings theWord Users,
TotheWord Beta is provided as is. I often make updates as I use the tool. Note this is an advanced tool read through the progression in the changelog.
It is also a beta tool specifically Find/Replace dialog can lock up and you have to shut down the program manually. If you don't know how to do this please don't use this tool.
TotheWord is available here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/fold ... XyUW6Abkyo
Note since these tutorial videos were made there has been a major interface update so you may need to explore to find some of the items used in the tutorials.

Among users help request is fine but please understand JG and I do not have time for general help with this tool. (We may answer as we decide to) I am sorry. We are invested in other areas of theWord such as resource building, marketing, website maintenance, and other ways. I held off putting TotheWord here for this very reason.

JG if help requests get to be too much please let me know.

TotheWord - D1.5.3 Full.zip is the latest version at this time as of 5/23/2022
It works for making Books for theWord as well as Bibles. However, the help file is slow going so please spend sometime understanding the changelog file and exploring the help. As noted above help via (email or forum is limited).
Note this is a tool we are using to make official content so that should let you know it can produce quality work if you dig into it.
Note it is working fine on Windows 10. It is a development software with constant changes so don't be surprised if there are many new additions from time to time since as we note additions we need.

Methodology

Post by jonathangkoehn »

There are a couple main ways that TotheWord can import/convert a file.
----There are many hints through out the interface to help the process. Also explore the Examples folder.

1. Basic conversion (Recommended for starting out)
--Open a file such as RTF, RVF, DOCX, HTML, etc directly in the interface
--Edit using Find/Replace a Regex tool
--Add the needed markups for topics, etc if a Book (Dct, Gbk, Map) (Book Editor)
OR <c>Ref</c> if a Commentary (Book Editor)
OR verses like 1.1.1.In the beginning.... on their own lines if a Bible (Bible Editor)

2. Complex conversion
--Regex Rules (Built through the Regex Editor)
--Load these rules (Book Editor > File > Open > 1. Load Regex Rules) and then load the file(s) into Book Editor > File > Open > Special Open for Books in the (Book Editor)
--Load these rules (Bible Editor > File > Open > 1. Load Regex Rules) and then load the file(s) into Bible Editor > File > Open > 5. Open Bible

Lastly for both of these steps you will need to have your Configuration files, About, etc.
Enjoy your building!

If when you open TotheWord but dont see it. This is due to the config file needing a small adjustment.
There are two top and two left entries that need set to 0.
(I try to remember to reset the one but I forget at times.)

If you have questions for TotheWord please add them to this post. Then perhaps if time permits the help file will grow.

Please be specific and detailed in your questions. We are actively using TotheWord for premium and appreciation resources and constantly updating it.

There is a steep learning curve but there is a lot of power. It can even be used to make devotionals.

The Regex rules engine is useful for importing from any text format for books or Bibles. There is even the ability of running a Regex rule on a Regex rule.

Imagine searching for \([^)]*\) then wanting to only modify the () that has like (8889) so (\d+) this is possible and adding a G so G$1.

You can find out more in the Regex Editor, Book Editor or Bible Editor.

There have been various requests to make resources.
TotheWord is designed around this and can be used for many many resources infact many official resources are made using it.
It helps speed up the development process.
If you have a resource that doesn't require copyright permission how about you try building it using TotheWord.
You can import almost any text and use the regex rule system to build it.
Also you can import Microsoft Word document resources and use the interface to build it using the tags that are explained in the interface.
