Thank you very much for the program.
In Russian there are several modules in the OT- and NT-format. How to install them on the android application? As far as I understand it works only with the ONT-format.
Best regards!

PS. Can I somehow add the Russian acronym for the Biblical books?

PPS. I propose to make a language file such as for theWord. So that everyone can add their own abbreviations.

Sorry, I haven't monitor this forum for a very long time.
And I busy with my daily job so there is no significant update on OpenBibles.
The last update on OpenBibles is v4.3, and you can download from https://market.android.com/details?id=com.konibee.bible
Now you can read daily devotion from OpenBibles by pressing menu button and choose "Document".

You can email me on gmail or send Direct Message on twitter to get faster response from me.
I've just setup twitter for OpenBibles: http://twitter.com/openbibles
For more information about OpenBibles, you can access: http://openbibles.wordpress.com

@RubioTerra:
- <FI> tag support;
Now <FI> tag support has been added.
I also upload many theword.net .ONT file to openbibles server. So now you can choose many bible translations on "download" menu.
- visual distinction for selected verse, maybe a different background color;
Sorry, there is no verse selection on openbibles. But you can long press on a verse and pick some actions.
- visual distinction for section titles (<TS> tags), maybe bold font and/or a different color.
<TS> tag has been displayed with different color (green).

@Fog:
Unfortunately, OpenBibles can only handle .ONT file.
* If you have .OT file, then you should rename it to .ONT, and fill line 23146-33102 with blank line. Description about the bible should be on line 31104 or below.
* If you have .NT file, then you should rename it to .ONT, and fill line 1-23145 with blank line. Description about the bible should be on line 31104 or below.

Starting from OpenBibles v4.0, you can add bible book name and abbr on your own language.
Bible Book Names (Genesis, Exodus, etc.) and their abbreviations are located on /sdcard/OpenBibles/BookName.
You can add bible book names in your own language by creating a UTF-8 text file.
* Filename should be in lowercase and ended with .bkn extension.
* The file should contains 66 lines and each line representing single bible book name and its abbreviation.
* Separate book name and abbreviation by “;;” characters.
Sample file:
line 1: Genesis;;Gen
line 2: Exodus;;Exo

line 64: 3 John;;3 Jn
line 65: Jude;;Jude
line 66: Revelation;;Rev

Hope that helps..
God bless you all..

Dear Costas,

I have been greatly blessed by your good work since I discovered TheWord last March. May our Lord bless you richly, so that you can be a greater blessing to many more who covet the Word of our Lord.
I am a pastor (in Taiwan). Yet for software programming, I am a total layman. I cannot quite understand much of the discussions on "TW on smartphones". However, one of my church member, a very devoted brother, is a professional programmer who designs apps for Android (and iOS). He checked TW out on the Internet & told me that, if he could have the parser source code of the TW Modules (Again, I don't quite understand what that means.), he would be able to make TW work on Android. Is it possible that you could provide him with this "parser" information? If yes, I will ask him to communicate with you directly in technical terms. Either way, we thank you again for your good work. God bless you!

Hi, I'm not Costas.
But I will help Costas to reply your question. :)
You can give this link: http://www.theword.net/index.php?articl ... &l=english to your church member. It contains documentation of bible format and modules of TheWord.net. After reading that documentation, I believe he could make parser to read TheWord format.

Currently, I've developed Android application called 'OpenBibles' which can read TheWord.net bible modules, but it can't read non bible modules. You can try OpenBibles at https://market.android.com/details?id=com.konibee.bible.

Thanks..

I know the program wasn't specifically designed for mobile use, but perhaps someone out there knows of a method one could use to alter it for such a use. I'm not computer illiterate, but I'm no programmer either, so simple, clear, and precise instruction if possible would be greatly appreciated.

JOnath method also work to use windows apps on android, But I think there is a way to install windows apps on android by using a emulator if some windows apps don't have any android app version, otherwise in this era you can find almost all windows apps in your smartphone if you have a Android 10 or 11 version.
ChristKenddy Instagram Plus Apk or use instagold

Mobile version app is better then Desktop version.

That looks like it would probably work on an x86-based phone (I think some OnePlus devices use x86 processors), but most phones that I know of are ARM-based.

I wonder if there's a way to combine Termux, QEMU, and Wine. This is what I'm thinking roughly:

- Install Termux to provide a basic Linux environment (https://termux.dev/en/)
- Install a full Linux environment as a PRoot container (https://wiki.termux.com/wiki/PRoot)
- Set up transparent x86 emulation in the container (https://wiki.debian.org/QemuUserEmulation)
- Install the x86 version of Wine, along with a window manager (IceWM or Openbox maybe?), and a VNC server
- Download a portable version of theWord with wget
- Figure out how to get the WM launched and then start the VNC server
- Connect to the VNC server with an Android VNC client
- Open up a terminal, navigate to wherever theWord is, unpack it if needed, and try launching it

If I had a phone I'd try this, but I don't. Maybe someone with enough time and willingness to experiment can try out the above?
