I am using Mint 20 (currently only VM) and I would like to install Mint Cinnamon 21 on a notebook which I got from friend. But one of the problems I have is that I am missing a good bible software with black background and white text - otherwise I cannot use. theWord is almost the same (similar) as Theophilos which I used since 2003... The only difference is that Theophilos has some bible translations or bibles which are not present in theWord and cannot be exported as a module because the Theophilos development was closed many years ago.
So my question is how to install it on linux? I did not find the package
theWord on linux? Is it possible?

I find it easiest to use bottles and select to install all the fonts
Re: theWord on linux? Is it possible?
I just installed theWord on Linux Mint 22.0 Cinnamon without any problems. I used the Wine version installed with Mint but added PlayOnLinux to do the install. I downloaded the .exe file and directed PlayOnLinux (which I got from the Software Manager) to get it from my Downloads folder. It had me name a virtual folder for the C:\ so I chose TheWord (wish I would have used theWord, no issue at all). It installed within a minute.
There are no problems with the fonts. In theWord preferences the fonts are set at Gentium, Cardo, & Tahoma. I don't have Tahoma installed but it works just fine. Not sure what's going on there.
PlayOnLinux helped make a desktop shortcut that looks and works perfectly.
TheWord downloaded and installed some new modules without any problems. It restarts itself (upon permission from you) to activate those new modules. The SBLGNT (Greek) opened in the Bible window and works great with all the pop-up window helps. I also installed the Swete LXX and it works fine but no pop-up helps.
I use Logos 9 software in Windows 11 and on Mint I use the online version. There is a way to install with Wine but haven't tried it yet.
TheWord is a very good program!

Thank you so much "alleng". Your post has given me success in installing theWord in Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon. I'm new to Linux and had the toughest time migrating from the other OS, mainly because of certain Must-Have software that I need, one of them being "theWord", a fabulous software indeed. Your simple but clear post is truly a God-sent. Thank you once again.

Have you already tried running theWord through Wine on Linux?
Re: theWord on linux? Is it possible?
TW runs very well in Linux using Wine. There may be an occasional slight issue with a font (discussed in this forum), It is fast, smooth, and is a joy!
