Enhance Clipboard Monitoring Verse Reference

Right now we cannot see long references when they are written like this John 4:2; 1 Cor 3:2. It does not recognize semicolon which is a common way of writing the verse list, it jumps to John's first chapter, not first Corinthians. It does recognize when there's a comma instead of semicolon.

Also, it will be great improvement if you also add recognition for ref like First John 5:8, and further possible wordings.

Noted this for investigation. It works ok in the totheWord utility but that might have some additional code different to theWord that needs looking into. The verse detection/CM code is quite complex

The format would need to be like this

Either the : is a chapter:verse separator or in some language format the , is chapter,verse

In the Copy only verse ref from the list, we don't get any comma between the references. But many sites like biblegateway will require comma to show them in their site. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?s ... ersion=KJV

Select the option from the copy verses menu, to open in the copy verses dialog Ctrl key.....
Set the predefined format to 15 with ; at the end of each verse. Then in the advanced tab set 'copy only verse refs' Then save as a custom set.

The two letter abbreviation for Hebrews is Hb not He. It recognises He, Mk, Jh, Lu , but in some bibles references on internet or elsewhere the Hebrews abbrv is Hb which it doesnt catches.

It should accept various types of writings in the popup clipboard monitoring, including with writings that omit book name after some references. Like John 1:1 ..... and 1:4; 2:4-5. Here all verses should be caught if it recognises John's gospel is in reference.

Also, when we copy the references only from the bible list, it should paste the list with commas because Biblegateway does not recognise the references without commas. If we want to share the list through biblegateway, it should include commas.

We don't have AI built in to theWord, so we only have none intelligent algorithms. Parsing these references currently has its limitations before we start getting far too many false detections.

Some options may be nice but like Jon said it is not an AI engine. Also our goal is not to support BibleGateway. If it happens great but that is not a main goal.

I thought these things can be added with manual commands to detect various types of reference formats.
