context menu without using mouse

Post by kenfhill84083 »

For a long time I have wished to be able to invoke the context menu without using the mouse right-click. Windows has a shortcut key (shift+10) but that is tied up in theWord.

So I developed an AutoHotKey script that assigns windows+Z to act as right-click. I can still use the mouse but I don't have to.

In theWord, I use this mostly to access note functions (eg, indents and other paragraph settings).

Attached is a ZIP file with (1) the editable autohotkey file and (2) and executable of the AHK file. If you need to change the hotkey assignment, you need to do that in the AHK file and then compile - which means you have to have AHK installed. If you are OK with Win+Z then just launch the .EXE file.

Note: this hotkey works in any windows app when I want that app's context menu. Saves wear and tear on my mouse, wrist, and finger. :P
